Teach Us to Pray

October 2026

God said in the book of Isaiah that His house will be called “a house of prayer.” Jesus reiterates this in the New Testament as well. So how do we grow in prayer? Of all the topics the 12 disciples could have asked Jesus to teach them, they inquired, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11 and Matthew 6). The disciples watched Jesus, saw the manner in which He prayed, communed with the Father, and they wanted to grow in it. They had prayed religiously all their lives (as faithful Jews), yet Jesus’ prayer life stuck out to them.

Our simple ask and inquiry is the same; “Lord, teach us to pray.” We want to grow in His presence, know His character, understand His heart, align to His will, and be transformed into a people, “a house,” that is called a “house of prayer.” This is a life-long learning journey with Jesus!
